Thanks for being polite - The York Daily Record

I just wonder if anyone notices how often you hear the words "thank you"? Did you ever look up the definition of those two words in the dictionary (expressing one's gratitude or thanks) or to tell someone that you are grateful because they have given you something or done something for you?

Have you used it in your day-to-day conversations with others?

How about using the word "appreciate" to someone who did or said something nice to you. So, you know what I am talking about. We seem to be in such of a rush that we forget to use our words that are meaningful to others. Maybe when we were growing up, our parents didn't use or tell us to say thank you. When I was growing up, if we got a gift from someone, we were always told to say "thank you."

So does this mean that our society has stopped caring or just doesn't care anymore? I bet if you start using those two words, "thank you," you might get a surprise by the warm feeling you get as the result of it. JOHN BAUMAN
